01 | Caricature
Scope: Draw a portrait of a celebrity icon; the silhouette must be composed entirely of one emoji icon.

The "emoji icon" chosen for this portrait of Johnny Cash was the fire emoji, given one of his most famous songs was "Ring of Fire". Cash has always been one of my music idols. I've probably watched the Cash-inspired movie "Walk the Line" 15+ times, and I have visited the Johnny Cash museum in Nashville, Tennessee twice within the past couple of years.

02 | Self Portrait in Ink
Scope: Capture a self portrait, a "selfie", using self-timer, with a lighting and angle drastic enough to highlight the features of my face. Take this photograph, print in black and white, and recreate this self portrait using only black ink and water.
03 | Pen Drawing
Scope: Create a visual memoir for a famous icon, solely using pen / felt tip marker. This image should include references to the icon's successes throughout his/her life.

I chose Stephen King – I'm a fan of his books and the subsequent film creations based on his literary works. 'References' in my piece that can be seen include: "Long Live the King" sticker to hint at his last name; "Redrum" sticker and stipple dot portrait of notable character, Johnny, to pay homage to the movie "The Shining"; "Georgie" sticker and the bursts of red colour to highlight themes from the movie "It"; and "37927" in reference to the movie "Shawshank Redemption".
One whole, final story can be told in the license plate alone. King was once in a life-threatening car accident with a large van. The driver held the surname "Smith" and the crash occurred in Maine on June 19, 1999.
